A little bit about the BBS...The Last Hope is located in Burnaby, BC, Canada, operated by Ryan Goolevitch. It is operated on an Atari 130XE with BBS Express! Professional Software version 5.0b, a 1MB MIO, two 40MB Harddrives (one online, a second for backup), an Adaptec 4000A SCSI Host adapter, and various other hardware (way too much to list here!), and last but not least a US Robotics Courier HST Dual Standard 16800 bps Modem, the most reliable modem I've ever owned! News
The NetworkAfter the BBS was online for about a year, August 1996 marked The Last Hope (Node #244) as a founding member of the revival of the historic IAN (International Atari Network) network of Atari 8-Bit Systems around the world, along with the Jail BBS in Toronto, and Beco Tel BBS in the Netherlands. The newly formed network is now called the IMR, for International Message Relay. We wanted to use a different name so that people would not associate the new network with the hard-feelings that brought on the downfall of the former IAN. The network now has an awesome seventeen systems in total, in countries including Canada, USA, Netherlands, Germany, and more! The Last Hope BBS is the home of the official IMR nodelist that is updated monthly and posted through the network so all of us can see how the network is formed, and who is out there.
